Ashley & Jason's Maroon Bells Adventure Session

Wow oh, WOW am I excited to share these gorgeous images with you! When Ashley suggested Maroon Bells, just outside of Aspen, Colorado as a possible adventure session location, I nearly jumped the moon! As the most photographed spot in all of Colorado, it’s a sought after location for reasons that will be obvious as soon as you start scrolling through!

Now you may be asking yourself, what is an adventure session? Well, it’s born from an engagment or couples session, but it’s done in a place that’s far mor epic than just a nice neighborhood park. It’s also a session designed around things you like to do as a couple, whether it’s hiking, biking, rafting, rollerblading, rock climbing…really whatever it is you guys love to do as a couple, we’ll go do it and document it with some pretty killer photos! (If you’re interested in booking your own adventure session, shoot me an email!)

In Ashley and Jason’s case, they have a huge appreciation for the area they live in and they love spending quite time alone in the gorgeous parks Colorado has to offer. Although we kept the session low key, I couldn’t have had more fun exploring the area and seeing some pretty cute visitors along the way (some marmots and deer made appearances as we hiked).

My favorite part of the session though might have been when Ashley was talking about when she first met Jason. She said from right away she knew she wanted to hold on to him because she could instantly tell what a good soul he had and he was most definitely “one of the good ones”. Aw! I love hearing how much couples appreciate eachother to the fullest and these two definitely do! Check out their photos below and leave them some love in the comments while you’re at it!

Atrium at Meadowlark: Kallen and Christopher

Kallen and Christopher’s wedding was beautiful and filled with history and love. These two super smart love birds met as middle schoolers at a summer space camp!! As they got to know eachother more, their families saw their connection and found ways to allow them to stay connected and visit one another despite living half a country apart from one another. Eventually, they both wound up at college together and the rest is history!

Set in the always stunning, Meadowlark Gardens, the two exchanged vows in a ceremony lead by both Kallen’s cousin and father and spent the rest of the night celebrating with friends and loved ones. Even though the rain plagued us on and off throughout the day, Kallen and Christopher handled it with grace and amazingly,  it stayed away during the ceremony. I loved the little personal touches Kallen wanted like the lace on her dress (made from the same lace maker as Princess Kate’s dress!) matched the lace on her Charm City Cakes wedding cake and also recreating recreating her school dance photos with her friends from high school (the same group has been in attendance for each one of their special occasions, awww!). I also got a glimpse into a funny family tradition of “sneak attacking” people with clothespins. Apparently what started as a silly prank many many years ago by Kallen’s grandfather has turned into a family game every time they all get together. Someone even got me without me knowing it. I got back to my car at the end of the night to take off my camer harness and found one clipped to me! Ha ha!

Irma & Dan's Saint Albans Wedding

I had such a great time photographing Irma & Dan’s wedding a few weeks ago. The two brought in beautiful aspects of Irma’s Mexican heritage to their ceremony and reception at Saint Albans (where Dan happens to teach Spanish). Irma wore her sister’s dress and veil (which I think is an awesome way to add even more sentiment into a wedding)! Dan’s co-worker and school chaplain married them in the school’s beloved Little Chapel. The school’s catering by Sodexo completely outdid themselves with one of the tastiest meals I’ve had in ages (the cheese tuile on the salad was heavenly!) and another fellow co worker, Catherine Carman, served as an amazing wedding coordinator for all of the weekend’s events. DJ AP Andres kept everyone dancing all night long and Killer Tomato Pizza rounded out the night with a tasty pizza truck late night snack! Flowers by Chic Floral, Video by DP Wedding, and Mariachi by Mariachi Aguila. Reception Lighting by Yours Truly.

Grace & Zack's Museum of the Shenandoah Wedding

Grace and Zack’s Spring wedding was a joy to photograph! Filled with love, they tied the knot at the Museum of the Shenandoah in Winchester, VA. I had never photographed there before and I instantly fell in love! the grounds are beautiful and the staff was super nice and helpful. You have to go visit and see the gardens there! They’re truly beautiful!

One of my favorite details of the day was Grace’s homage to her Grandfather. She attached a sweet little photo charm to her favorite cowboy boots and wore them all day long. They had a truly special bond and it was a touching way to keep his memory close to her the entire day.

Thanks to all the ridiculous rain the week of the wedding, the grounds were too soft to have everyone out on them, so they had the ceremony indoors. The museum’s indoor space was warm and cozy and had some awesome architectural details and beautiful abstract stars hanging from the ceiling. I thought it was magical!

Hannah & Jeff's The Osprey's at Belmont Bay Wedding

Just looking at Hannah and Jeff brings a smile to my face. These two are funny, silly, sweet, and most definitely in love. They’re such a joy to work with. Their Spring wedding at The Osprey’s at Belmont Bay was beautiful (despite the rain!) and the reception was one crazy party..complete with The Big Cheese, a grilled cheese food truck!
